3 Months

Taylor is three months old! On one hand it seems like she has been here for ever and I can't believe it has only been three months, and then other times it seems like three months has flown by. I was filling out her baby book the other day and I realized that I have very little recollection of April or May even happening. June is much clearer, as we settle in to this parenting thing! First time in her highchair

This month was a busy one. Mike's classes are two nights a week and it is shortened since it is the summer so an entire semester of work has been crammed in to five weeks. He is doing a good job of spending time with Taylor whenever he can... even if he is studying and she is sleeping.

Taylor has mastered a few things this month. For one, she is sleeping like a champ. She has been pretty consistently sleeping for 7 hours, then eating, then sleeping another three for about three weeks now. It has been wonderful to sleep this stretch of time again, it has been almost a year since getting this much sleep! Of course just as things seem to be going perfect we started putting her in her crib this week. The first few nights I had to check on her a million times so I was back to functioning on little sleep, but I had to make sure still there and still breathing. I had to take the bumper pads off last night because the night before she scooted to the side and I found her pushed up against them. Last night she woke up screaming after hitting her head on the rails... I have already purchased breathable bumpers. We learn quickly around here!

Unfortunately, she hasn't quite figured out how to fall asleep and getting her to close her eyes has become a huge challenge. She screams and screams until finally falling asleep. I have taken to pacing our back deck as the fresh air seems to speed up the process.

Taylor has also mastered the art of melting our hearts with her adorable smile. She smiles so big that her little shoulders pull up to her ears and her head goes back and forth, like she just can't get enough of whatever you are doing. She has let out a few small giggles, mostly when we make funny noises with our mouth, but we are still waiting for that all out belly laugh.

Still a little small

So far throughout Taylor's almost three months of life (tomorrow is her big day)there have been a lot of things that I have been waiting for her to "grow in to"... a ton of adorable outfits that happen to be 3-6 months, the excersaucer, the jogging stroller, the front facing position in the baby carrier, the highchair, and a few others. Well, this weekend we tried a few of the things that have been a little too big for her...

Little Model

Our wonderful photographer friend, Danielle came over on Monday and took some beautiful pictures of Taylor. It was so nice to have her here because we took all the pictures in her bedroom where she was very comfortable. Taylor loved Danielle (and the camera) and smiled at her most of the time. I have only seen a few of the pictures so far but these are two of my favorites. I will post more soon.

Modeling can be a tough job!

Taylor's Baptism

Taylor's Baptism was on Sunday... I had no idea how nervous I would be! All I could think about was Taylor screaming throughout her whole "moment" and how loud her screams would be echoing throughout the church! We spent a lot of time planning and preparing for the lunch at our house afterwards so I didn't have too much time to think about the actual baptism. Well, Sunday morning came and Taylor woke up on the wrong side of the bed, screaming and not wanting to eat. I thought for sure that we were in for it and my biggest fears were about to come true. My mom spent the entire car ride to the church telling me how I screamed throughout my baptism and not to worry about it...I still worried!

Well, I am happy to say that Taylor did wonderfully and seemed to love being in her beautiful white dress and having all the attention. She flashed plenty of smiles to everyone that looked her way. It really was a great day... and a great father's day!

Look... I have hands

Taylor is starting to try to reach for things and use her hands more intentionally. We starting noticing this when she sits in her bouncy seat and reaches for the bears that are in front of her. At first Mike and I thought it was accidental when she would swing her arms and hit them but last night we were certain that she was trying to reach for them... then we laughed at the types of dinner conversations that we now have!

She has noticed Emma and will now reach for her face. Emma thinks it is great because for the last two months she has not been allowed to lick Taylor but now it is hard to say no when Taylor basically sticks her hands in Emma's mouth!

Getting Stronger

Taylor has been getting stronger everyday. She used to fall asleep as soon as she would lay on her belly but now she lifts her head and looks around.

Who doesn't love a good nap after such a hard workout?

Playdates

We had lunch and a playdate with Ashlynne and Nolan this week. Taylor loves to lay on her back, kick her legs, punch her arms, and watch whatever is going on around her... Nolan was the perfect entertainment! Wouldn't these just be the cutest pictures to display at their wedding... it is just a thought!

Later that day Aunt Jen and Uncle Dave ran over (yes, they ran) and played with Taylor. She loved it and we are so happy that they live so close and can spend time with her!
